Professor Adam J. Levitin joined the team as an Advisor of Gordian Crypto in 2022.
Gordian Crypto member Professor Levitin is a leading expert on cryptocurrencies and insolvency. He is the Anne Fleming Research Professor and Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, in Washington, D.C., where he teaches courses in commercial law, contracts, financial regulation, and business restructuring.
Professor Levitin has extensive experience working with multiple federal regulatory agencies, state attorneys general, and Congress on financial regulatory issues. He has testified before Congress over thirty times on financial regulatory and insolvency matters. He has worked as an expert witness or litigation consultant for federal financial regulatory agencies and state attorneys general, and has served as the primary draftsman for several substantial bills. Professor Levitin has previously served on the Consumer Advisory Board of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Previously, Professor Levitin practiced in the Business Finance & Restructuring Department of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP in New York, and served as law clerk to the Honorable Jane R. Roth on the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He also served as the Bruce W. Nichols Visiting Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, as the Robert Zinman Scholar in Residence at the American Bankruptcy Institute, as Special Counsel to the Congressional Oversight Panel supervising the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), and on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s statutory Consumer Advisory Board.

Professor Levitin graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in field from Harvard College, a Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil) and an A.M. in History from Columbia University, and a J.D., cum laude from Harvard Law School.
