Prioritize every client
Every case is managed by senior members of our team – partners and managing directors. Our clients benefit from Gordian Group’s decades of experience.
Maximize shareholder value and protect downside risk
We focus on representing companies, boards of directors and equity holders including private equity firms, entrepreneurs and family groups, to protect and maximize value. We provide expertise in financial restructurings and reorganizations, mergers & acquisitions, public and private financings, complex structured finance, and matters requiring opinions and expert testimony.
Offer independent and unconflicted financial advice
Although Gordian Group is a FINRA-registered broker-dealer, we have no institutional loyalties: our firm does not trade securities or have a bondholder advisory practice. Our clients benefit from conflict-free advice.
Deliver creative solutions
We leverage our depth of experience, network of contacts and proven negotiating skills to seek to maximize value for all stakeholders.
Drive discussions that shape the financial industry
Our professionals are industry innovators and recognized leaders. Gordian Group and its team are consistently recognized by the media, industry peers and publications such as The Deal and Turnarounds & Workouts.
Executive Point of View
The importance of experience
At Gordian Group, we understand that the economic fortunes of shareholders, entrepreneurs, family groups, investors, private equity firms and employees are on the line. Experience is a key ingredient to our success. Our business model is to staff our engagements with senior professionals that are on the front lines to provide constant and informed advice. This distinguishes us from many of our competitors who “farm out” their assignments to junior level professionals.
Leadership is also essential. The restructuring process is chaotic by its very nature, and has been frequently described as “herding cats.” Adversaries in restructurings may not view our clients or their goals favorably, but they very well can respect the leadership an effective investment bank can bring. We help our clients assert that leadership.
Vision is another critical factor. While related to experience, the two are not the same. A skilled quarterback can size up the field quickly, avoid a turnover and advance the ball. We believe that we can provide our clients with unparalleled guidance in distressed and/or complex matters. In large part, this stems from our ability to grasp an early understanding of the economic and other issues that will separate or unite various disparate constituencies and our ability to translate that into effective creditor strategies. Said another way, we believe we are unsurpassed in “connecting the dots” quickly and correctly.
Finally, competence is always paramount. The client will need to consider a myriad of options, including creditor restructurings, M&A alternatives and third-party financings. Unless the financial advisor has the experience to make recommendations and/or advise as to such alternatives, we think the client may be ill-served.
